Street closures pave way for Avery”™s Bravery Race

One of the township’s most popular fundraisers appears to be going ahead again next month after Guelph-Eramosa council approved several road closures.

The 4th annual Avery’s Bravery Race will take place in Rockwood on April 27.

Council approved the temporary closure of portions of the following Rockwood roads for the race: Fall, Mary, Balaclava, Richardson and Guelph Streets.

The race, is held every spring at the conservation area to celebrate four-year-old Rockwood girl Avery Bond, who overcame life saving heart surgery at 13 days of age (and also other health problems) and is now healthy and thriving.

The event, an annual fundraiser for the Sick Kids Foundation, has raised $19,000 to date, including $6,500 last year. For more information about the event visit www.averysbraveryrace.com.
